LIVERMORE — Hugo Peraza-Leveron, 25, of Livermore, remains in custody ineligible for
release on bond, since his recent arrest for two attempted murders.
Peraza-Leveron allegedly swung two machetes menacingly at two men who went outside to investigate an annoying
barking dog.
Alameda County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded on December 27 to a residence on
Cross Road, shortly before 2:30 a.m. The men told deputies they were attacked and
threatened by a stranger, and they had a witness.
One of the victims backed away and the second victim tried to de-escalate the situation, but
he was also threatened. The confrontation ended when one of the victims harmed himself
with a pipe, prompting the suspect to flee from the area. Fortunately, no one was reported
injured.
Deputies searched the vicinity and found Peraza-Leveron about two hours later. He was
apprehended four miles away from the victims’ residence. At the time of his arrest, Peraza-
Leveron was reportedly still carrying at least one of the machetes.
Peraza-Leveron was positively identified as the suspect by both victims and one witness.
Shortly thereafter, Peraza-Leveron booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail at 5:05 a.m.
Multiple charges have been filed against Peraza-Leveron.
He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary court hearing on January 15. His charges include two counts of attempted murder,
two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and threatening a witness.
