ROSEVILLE, CA – January 9th 2026
“On December 20, 2025, a Roseville Police Officer was dispatched to a report of a cluster mailbox theft in the 3000 block of Blackwelder Way in Roseville.
The Officer discovered an entire cluster mailbox had been physically removed and stolen from the street. The initial 911 caller described the suspect vehicle as an older model gold sedan. The suspects were described as two male, white, adults and clean shaven.
Our officer quickly started their investigation by reviewing intersection cameras, working with the residents in the surrounding neighborhood for any home surveillance footage. Their efforts paid off as they located video footage of a vehicle matching the description leaving the street with … a massive cluster mailbox hanging out of the trunk.
During the investigation, the vehicle’s route was tracked via city cameras, and a license plate was identified. During the investigation, which lasted over two weeks, officers were able to identify suspect Michael Johnson, 30, of Sacramento as one of the two suspects.
On January 5, 2026, patrol officers responded to his house in Sacramento and conducted a probation search of his residence. Right inside the garage was a cluster mailbox from Roseville being used as a nightstand! Officers also located numerous pieces of stolen mail.
Johnson was placed under arrest for 530.5(e) PC (Mail Theft) and 530.5(c)(2) PC (Possession of Personal Identifying Information with a prior conviction) and 182 PC (Conspiracy) and booked into the South Placer County Jail.
