K-9 Niko Nabs Felony Suspect Following Police Chase in Isleton

ISLETON, CA – January 7th 2026 — “Yesterday afternoon, Central Division POP Deputies arrested 43-year-old Wyatt Tripp following an off-road pursuit near the 1100 block of West Brannan Island Road that ended with the assistance of Sheriff’s SED and K9 Niko.

Tripp was known to be on formal probation and had two active felony warrants out of Butte County. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, Tripp led them on a dangerous pursuit, driving off-road in an attempt to evade deputies before stopping and fleeing on foot into a nearby field.

Deputies established a perimeter and requested additional resources, including the Sheriff’s Helicopter, Drone Unit, SWAT, and K9, to assist in the search. After a coordinated effort, Tripp was located attempting to hide in a thickly covered field and was apprehended by Sheriff’s K9 Niko.

Tripp was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow (January 8th).”
