Cotati Police Reportedly Catch DUI Suspect with 3D-Printed Ghost Gun
COTATI, CA — “On December 27th, 2025, at approximately 2030 hours, Cotati Police Officers working on a DUI Saturation Patrol grant were conducting patrol when they observed a vehicle weaving and making multiple unsafe lane changes. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was observed to have objective signs of intoxication. Following a DUI investigation, the driver was placed under arrest for being under the combined influence of alcohol and a drug. During a search incident to arrest of the driver, the driver was discovered to be in possession of multiple bags of cocaine. After searching the driver’s vehicle, a loaded, 3D printed, unserialized firearm (often referred to as a “ghost gun”) was discovered on the floorboard of the vehicle just under the driver’s seat. After the driver was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) post-arrest, the DRE’s determination was that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and a Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant. The driver was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County Jail for 25850(a) PC – carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, 25400(a)(1) PC – carrying a concealed firearm within a vehicle, 11370.1(a) HS – carrying a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, 11350(a) HS – possession of a controlled substance, and 23152(g) VC – driving while under the combined influence of drugs and alcohol. This was during one of two DUI Saturation Patrol shifts this past weekend funded by the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program. In total, Cotati Police Officers arrested 8 separate drivers during this past weekend for DUI related offenses – two of which were also in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.”
