Man Arrested for Alleged DUI After Crashing into Power Pole, Causing Outage
REDDING, CA — “On December 14, 2025, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Redding Police Department officers responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Lake Boulevard and Masonic Avenue, near the Cassidy Auto Lube.
Officers determined the vehicle struck a power pole, causing a large power outage affecting numerous residences and businesses in the Lake Boulevard area.
The driver was identified as Lawrence Lopez (57), of Redding. Officers determined Lopez was intoxicated and arrested him for driving under the influence.
Redding Electric Utility responded to the scene to replace the damaged power pole and restore electrical service to the affected area.
The incident remains under investigation.”
