Police Apprehend Suspects Following Reported Mail Theft in Sea Haven Community
MARINA, CA — Marina Police Department officers responded to reports of mail and package theft in the Sea Haven community early Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025, around 3:00 AM. The incident was reported near locations including 261 Beacon Drive, Bungalow, and Sea Glass.
The reporting party described two male subjects involved: one was tall, wearing a cream-colored jacket with his face covered, and the second was shorter, wearing a grayish hooded sweatshirt. Both subjects were last observed heading toward Beacon Drive in Marina. Responding officers located a black Jeep Cherokee stopped in the roadway.
They observed a male subject running toward the vehicle carrying a large trash bag containing property. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled, resulting in a pursuit. The occupants, unfamiliar with the community, drove a short distance and entered a dead-end street, where officers were able to safely contain the vehicle. Several occupants then fled the scene on foot.
Officers successfully apprehended two of the three suspects: a female, Danita Cantu, and a male, Kevin Lau. One male subject remains outstanding. A search of the vehicle yielded three large bags containing recovered stolen mail, general property, and packages. Both apprehended individuals were taken into custody and charged with multiple felonies.
The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene. The Marina Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Residents in the affected area are advised to check their mailboxes and track package deliveries to determine if their property was stolen. Recovered items are being held by the department for return to their owners. Residents with surveillance cameras are encouraged to review footage to aid the investigation and contact Officer Sievers at bsievers@cityofmarina.org.
