Police: Woman Dead, Man Hospitalized in Apparent Domestic Violence Homicide, Attempted Suicide
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police have opened an investigation into an alleged domestic violence homicide and apparent attempted suicide.
According to a press release by the Redwood City Police Department, officers had initially responded to the 1300 block of Seaport Boulevard on the night of Sunday, Dec. 7, to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle.
At the scene, officers reportedly discovered an adult male in the driver’s seat and an adult female in the passenger’s seat — both unconscious and having sustained apparent gunshot wounds to the head.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and ultimately pronounced the adult female deceased. The adult male was reportedly hospitalized and remains in critical condition.
Police say the preliminary investigation has indicated that the two parties appear to be married and had been experiencing difficulties in their relationship.
“Evidence at the scene suggests the male shot and killed his wife before attempting to take his own life,” the press release stated.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
