Victim in Fatal Thanksgiving Day Shooting Identified as Orange Cove Woman

ORANGE COVE, CA — “Members of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit have identified 43 year old Carolina Godinez of Orange Cove as the woman killed in Orange Cove on November 27 (Thanksgiving).

Around 1:45 pm, Orange Cove Police responded to the area of 9th St. and South Ave for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a woman, later identified as Carolina Godinez, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers along with EMS attempted lifesaving efforts, but Godinez died due to her injuries.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit and our Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to begin an investigation. Identifying a suspect and determining a motive for this killing remain key parts of this ongoing investigation.
