Man Arrested for Alleged Possession of Stolen Gun & Property After Incident in Oroville

OROVILLE, CA  — “On November 15, 2025, at approximately 9:56 a.m., Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to Skyline Blvd. and La Mirada Ave. in Oroville, for reports of a male matching the description from a prior vehicle tampering call.

Deputies located the suspect, identified as Pedro Carrera-Hernandez, age 25 of Corning. During a search, Carrera-Hernandez disclosed he had a firearm. Deputies recovered a spray-painted handgun, a box of 9mm ammunition, loose rounds, and an empty magazine.

A records check revealed Carrera-Hernandez was on probation and did not have a CCW permit. Further investigation confirmed the firearm was reported stolen out of Portland, Oregon.

Carrera-Hernandez was booked into Butte County Jail for:

  • 25850(C)(2) PC: Carrying a loaded firearm in public with knowledge it was stolen
  • 496(A) PC: Possession of stolen property
  • 1203.2(A) PC: Probation violation”
