BERKELEY, CA — A homeless woman who wanders Berkeley allegedly attacked a father at a
popular playground on November 11.

Kelly Anne Moy, 49, was arrested on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury, and she remains in custody in lieu of $10,000 bond.

The man was visiting the playground at Aquatic Park at Boliver Drive, with his wife and two
children on Veteran’s Day afternoon. A stranger appeared and a commotion soon rupted at a
swing set.

Moy reportedly approached while yelling and screaming at the man sometime before 2 p.m.,
as he was pushing a swing for his youngest child. She seemed in a rage.

Moy allegedly kicked, punched and scratched the man as he shielded his youngest child from
her. The man’s wife who was with their older child quickly pulled away the younger child to
safety. Meanwhile, Moy allegedly continued attacking the man, until he broke away free from
her.

Berkeley police were called and investigated what happened at the playground. Responding
officers placed Moy under arrest at 2:37 p.m.

She was taken into custody without further incident on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury, and child endangerment.

Moy was transported Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, where she was booked for battery with
serious bodily injury. On November 12, one misdemeanor-level charge was filed against Moy
for assault and battery PC 242.
