Chino Police Recover Unserialized Rifles, Body Armor Following Vehicle Stop
CHINO, CA — A recent traffic stop conducted by Chino Police Department officers ultimately resulted in the seizure of multiple illegal firearms and related items, according to departmental reports. The stop was initiated after officers observed the vehicle committing traffic violations.
Upon contacting the driver, officers noted the presence of open alcohol containers inside the vehicle. Officers also observed a rifle magazine positioned within reach of the driver. Following this observation, the driver was detained, and a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted.
The search led to the discovery of several items, including two unserialized and unregistered assault-style rifles. One of these rifles was reportedly configured as a short-barrel rifle. Additionally, officers recovered multiple high-capacity rifle magazines, ammunition, and body armor from the vehicle.
Following the initial traffic stop, investigators with the Multi Enforcement Team (MET) obtained a search warrant related to the case. Execution of the warrant led to the discovery of an additional unserialized firearm equipped with a loaded extended magazine.
