Fresno Juvenile Arrested for Allegedly Shining Laser at Police Helicopter
FRESNO, CA — A Fresno County juvenile was arrested earlier this month for allegedly shining a laser pointer at a law enforcement helicopter.
According to a press release by the Fresno Police Department, members of Fresno PD’s Air Support Crew were assisting with a traffic stop in the area of Fruit Avenue and Cesar Chavez Boulevard on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 6.
During the traffic stop, which was unrelated to this incident, law enforcement reportedly noticed a red laser beam tracking the helicopter and illuminating the cockpit.
The crew identified the source of the laser as a neighborhood east of Fruit Avenue and north of Cesar Chavez Boulevard, police said.
Officers traveled to the area and located the suspect, whom they have identified as a 16-year-old juvenile.
The juvenile suspect was arrested on suspicion of pointing a laser at a police aircraft and booked at the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center.
