Suspect Arrested Following Shooting at Riverside Shopping Center
RIVERSIDE, CA — A man was arrested in the city of San Bernardino on Monday, October 27, 2025, in connection with a shooting at a Riverside parking lot that left a man in his 40s in critical condition.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:56 p.m. on Friday, October 24, when the City of Riverside Public Safety Communications Center received calls regarding a man shot in the parking lot of a vacant building in the 6100 block of Van Buren Boulevard. Officers quickly arrived and located the adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Firefighter-Paramedics from the Riverside Fire Department provided immediate medical aid before the victim was transported to a local hospital. The victim currently remains in critical condition.
Detectives from the Gang Intelligence Unit and Specialists from the Forensics Unit took over the investigation. Following rapid actions by officers at the scene, a suspect was identified. The Gang Intelligence Unit located the suspect the following day and, with assistance from Patrol, the Air Support Unit, and the METRO Team, arrested him in the city of San Bernardino.
The suspect, identified as Paul Chacon Workman, 40, of Riverside, was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. He faces charges including attempted murder, negligent discharge of a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm. Workman also faces enhancement allegations stemming from prior felony convictions and is currently being held on $1 million bail, which was obtained through a bail enhancement.

Authorities noted that several people were in the shopping center at the time of the shooting who may have witnessed the incident but have not yet come forward.
