Oakland Man Arrested in Connection with August Tenderloin Shooting

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officials recently confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to an Aug. 7th 2025 shooting in the city’s Tenderloin district. The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. near the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Jones Street.

Upon arrival, SFPD officers found a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported the individual to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Initial reports indicated the suspect had fled into a nearby structure on the unit block of Jones Street, though a subsequent search of the building did not immediately locate the individual.

Following an investigation, SFPD investigators identified the suspect as Vincent Thompson of Oakland, California.

Thompson was taken into custody on Oct. 23, 2025. Members of the SFPD Citywide Plainclothes Team, in collaboration with the Tracy Police Department and the US Marshals Task Force, conducted surveillance at a residence in Tracy, California. At approximately 3:35 p.m., authorities apprehended Thompson without incident at the location.

Simultaneously, Citywide Plainclothes members and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigators executed a search warrant at Thompson’s residence in Oakland, California.

Thompson was transported and booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges related to the incident, including aggravated assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and robbery.

A records search indicates that Thompson has been arrested a number of times in recent years for various offenses – those arrests may be viewed here.
