Three Arrested in Yuba City Following Sexual Assault and Weapons Investigation
YUBA CITY, CA — October 29th, 2025 — Deputies from the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a sexual assault and an assault with a deadly weapon on October 25, 2025, in the 800 block of South Barrett Road in Yuba City. The initial response led to the involvement of the Sheriff’s Investigations Unit, which assumed responsibility for the case.
On October 29, 2025, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail Team, working in coordination with investigators, served a search warrant at the residence connected to the incident. During the search, authorities recovered four firearms — including a rifle, a semi-automatic handgun without serial numbers, and two additional handguns — as well as a 30-round rifle magazine loaded with armor-piercing ammunition. Investigators also collected evidence related to the reported assault and firearm discharge.
Three individuals were taken into custody following the operation. Dartagnan Owen, 20, was arrested on charges of oral copulation by force or fear, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm, and rape of a person prevented from resisting by intoxication or a controlled substance. Shyann Braiser, 20, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon involving a firearm. Shaun Braiser, 50, was arrested on charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm, and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
All three suspects were booked into the Sutter County Jail.
