Marina Man Arrested Following Firearms and Explosive Materials Investigation
MARINA, CA — The Marina Police Department, in conjunction with the San Francisco Office of the FBI, served search warrants at two residences last week, culminating in the arrest of a 21-year-old man from Marina, CA.
The investigation began on October 28, 2025, after the Marina Police Department received a tip regarding online postings made by Ryan James Keating, 21, a resident of Marina. Authorities obtained a search warrant and a Gun Violence Restraining Order to be served at Mr. Keating’s residences in the 3000 block of Mildred Court in Marina and the 1000 block of Olmsted Ave in Pacific Grove.
During the search of the Marina residence, detectives located chemicals and components used to manufacture improvised explosive materials/devices. The Monterey County Sheriff Bomb Squad responded to the scene to confirm the materials’ dangerous nature and ensured they were rendered safe.
The investigation also led to the seizure of multiple firearms and large quantities of ammunition. Officers recovered two shotguns, one handgun, and three rifles that were legally purchased, alongside two “ghost gun” handguns and two “ghost” AR-15 rifles that were in the process of being manufactured. A 3D printer and numerous firearm parts were also located.
A search of the Pacific Grove residence yielded four legally purchased handguns and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, officers located evidence of racial and hate motivated literature, along with books on manufacturing improvised weaponry and military tactics at both locations.
Mr. Keating was booked into the Monterey County Jail on felony charges including Possession of destructive device material (18720 PC) and Possession of high-capacity magazines (32310 PC). His bail was set at $50,000.
