Desert Hot Springs Police Arrest Driver Clocked at 95 MPH on DUI Probation with Open Alcohol
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA – A Desert Hot Springs Police Department (DHSPD) Sergeant initiated a traffic stop resulting in a driving under the influence (DUI) arrest on Saturday, October 26, 2025.
The incident began as the Sergeant was concluding a separate call for service. A black sedan was observed traveling at an approximate speed of 95 miles per hour in a posted 50 mile-per-hour zone. The Sergeant pursued the vehicle, and the driver ultimately complied with the request to pull over.
During the interaction, the driver was subjected to an investigation for impaired driving. The driver initially claimed that his last alcoholic drink was consumed “32 hours ago.” Following the administration of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), the Sergeant determined that the individual was operating a vehicle while under the influence.
A subsequent review of the driver’s background revealed that he was currently on DUI probation. Furthermore, officers located evidence of open alcohol containers within the vehicle. Specifically, an open beer can was found in the center console, and a case of Twisted Tea beverages was located in the backseat.
The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by the DHSPD to enforce traffic laws and address impaired driving within the community. Authorities continue to urge all motorists to practice responsible driving habits. The circumstances of the high-speed offense and the probation status will be addressed in the subsequent legal process.
