Robbery Suspect Arrested in San Francisco with Aid from Real Time Investigation Center
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On October 18, 2025, San Francisco Police Officers responded to a reported robbery at a business on the 5300 block of Mission Street at approximately 6:42 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that an unknown adult male had entered the establishment. The suspect reportedly demanded money from the victim while utilizing an unknown object, which was covered by a bag. The suspect accessed the cash register and left the premises with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim immediately pursued the suspect outside while contacting emergency services. The suspect confronted the victim outside and demanded additional money. During this interaction, the suspect also stole the victim’s cell phone before leaving the scene in a vehicle. No injuries to the victim were reported during the incident.
The Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) assisted the investigation by locating the suspect vehicle. Members of the RTIC identified the vehicle traveling northbound on 7th Street toward Mission Street and notified officers operating in the immediate area. Officers located the vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident.
Officers positively identified the individual as Stephen Smith, 68, of Daly City. Smith was transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked on two counts of robbery (Penal Code 211) and assault (Penal Code 245(a)(4)). The investigation remains open and active.
