Santa Rosa Man Arrested for Alleged Bomb Threat Against Out-of-County School

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — “On October 7, 2025, at 11:36 p.m., deputies received a report of a bomb threat posted on social media targeting a school located outside Sonoma County. During the investigation, deputies determined that the person responsible for the post lived in Sonoma County.

Deputies contacted 18-year-old Ryan Sweeney, of Santa Rosa, in connection with the post. Sweeney told deputies the post was meant as a joke. After searching his residence, deputies confirmed he did not have access to any bomb-making materials.

Due to the seriousness of the threat, Sweeney was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for making criminal threats. He was later released on $30,000 bail.”
