Riverside Man Arrested: Suspected of Fatally Stabbing his Father

RIVERSIDE, CA  — Officers with the Riverside Police Department have arrested a man accused of fatally stabbing his father during an incident on September 27, 2025. At approximately 4:17 p.m., the City of Riverside’s Public Safety Communications Center received reports of a person suffering traumatic injuries in the 3400 block of Bahia Place. Firefighter-paramedics from the Riverside Fire Department located a 74-year-old man in the driveway of a residence with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The victim was identified as Crispin Rendon. The suspect, identified as his 36-year-old son, David Rendon, was believed to have carried out the attack. Police reported that officers attempted for more than two hours to convince the suspect to surrender before SWAT officers safely took him into custody.

Detectives from the Robbery–Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Forensics Unit, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office, and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, responded to process the scene and investigate the circumstances of the homicide.

According to the preliminary investigation, authorities believe the suspect may have been experiencing a mental health crisis at the time of the stabbing. David Rendon was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on a murder charge and is being held on $1 million bail.
