Spike Strips End Pursuit of Man Arrested Days After Release from Jail
REDDING, CA — “On 09/27/2025 at about 3:30 p.m., Redding Police received a call regarding a suspicious person operating a vehicle in a reckless manner, which was later determined to be stolen, in the area of Placer Street and West Street in Redding, CA.
An RPD officer located the vehicle in the area of Bechelli Lane and Redcliff Drive and identified the driver as Brian TENNER, 31 years old, a transient well known to officers in the Redding area and originally from Southern California. TENNER has been arrested eight times since August 2025, including an arrest the night prior for trespassing and resisting arrest.
When officers attempted a traffic stop, TENNER failed to yield and led Redding Police on a multi-mile pursuit through the city.
The pursuit ended in the area of Shasta View Drive and Maywood Drive after officers deployed spike strips and performed a pursuit intervention technique. TENNER attempted to put the vehicle into drive multiple times and violently resisted arrest, creating a dangerous situation for officers on scene. After a prolonged struggle, officers safely took TENNER into custody.
Further investigation determined the vehicle had been stolen from across the street from the Shasta County Jail shortly after TENNER was released from custody.
TENNER displayed objective signs of drug impairment and refused to participate in a DUI investigation. He was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, driving under the influence, and resisting an executive officer by means of threats or violence.
