Red Bluff Police Arrest Suspect on Firearms and Narcotics Charges in Industrial Complex Incident
RED BLUFF, CA — The Red Bluff Police Department recently reported the arrest of a 45-year-old man following an incident in an industrial complex on the 1700 block of Montgomery Road late on September 4, 2025. At approximately 11:19 p.m., an officer on patrol noticed light coming from a closed business. Upon further investigation, officers found the front door unsecured and detained multiple individuals inside the building at gunpoint. Deputies from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist in clearing the premises, and no additional suspects were located.
During a search of the building, officers discovered marijuana, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, a revolver, a rifle, and ammunition. According to the investigation, the items were determined to be in the possession of Fredrick Wayne Appleby, who was subsequently arrested. He was transported to the Tehama County Jail and faces charges of being a prohibited person in possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as possession of narcotics while armed with a firearm.
Police indicated that the case will be forwarded to the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office for review and potential prosecution of additional charges. The Red Bluff Police Department noted that officers will continue enforcement efforts within the city’s business and industrial areas to maintain public safety. Authorities also thanked the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the incident.
