Domestic Violence Investigation Leads to Illegal Weapons Arrests
by F. Scott Faulkner
OXNARD, CA — September 10, 2025 — A domestic violence call to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office last month evolved into a
weeks-long firearms investigation.
According to VCSD spokesman Detective Brian Dent, after deputies responded to the domestic
violence call in the El Rio area of Oxnard, “suspicions of illegal activity within the home” arose.
Pursuant to those “suspicions,” detectives conducted “additional investigation” into activities at the suspect
residence. The evidence generated over the next week led to the issuance of a search warrant of
the premises.
At sunrise on Sept. 3, 2025, VCSO Special Enforcement Unit detectives served the warrant at a home on the 2900 block of Alvarado Street, and conducted their warrant
search. Inside the home, they found “two unregistered semi-automatic handguns along with
several types of ammunition.”
The property’s residents, Jacob Johnson, 23, and Isidoro Fonseca Muniz, 49, were
taken into custody. Both men were transported to Ventura County Jail, where they were booked
on a charge of unlawful transfer of a firearm.
According to jail records, Johnson was later released on bond at approximately 11:09pm 09/03/25.
