Organized Retail Crime Theft Thwarted

ELK GROVE, CA  —  “September 9th 2025 – Last week the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and the Elk Grove Police Department conducted an operation at Lowe’s in Elk Grove.

In just a few hours, Detectives from the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force made a total of nine arrests, six of which were felonies, and five were Prop 36 arrests.

Out of the nine people arrested, five were on probation. Some notable arrests included:

A father/daughter duo, where 64-year-old Alvin Sloan III, was caught shoplifting with his 17-year-old daughter.

Aswan Demery, 42, was carrying a stolen loaded firearm in his waistband, along with possession of body armor, a police scanner, and binoculars.
