SAN RAFAEL, CA — A residence under surveillance netted arrests of three suspects, and seizure
of approximately two ounces of methamphetamine.
The suspects all from San Rafael are 42- year-old Remedios Santamaria and Victor Jimenez-Cuervo; and Walter A. Alvarado-Samayo,
43.
Their arrests are the culmination of an investigation that started in July.
Detectives from the Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit became aware of a residence, where illicit drugs
were suspected of being sold.
The special unit is comprised of detectives from law enforcement agencies throughout Marin
County who investigate drug trafficking.
San Rafael police also assisted in the investigation.
“Detectives observed a high volume of foot traffic coming and going from the residence,”
according to a prepared statement from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
Warrants were obtained to search 33 Lisbon Street in San Rafael, and its occupants.
Detectives from the special unit executed the warrants on August 28. Detectives recovered
methamphetamine packaged for sale, and a pistol with no serial numbers.
The firearm evidently assembled from a kit is commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.”
Santamaria, Jimenez-Cuervo and Alvardo-Samayo were each booked at Marin County Jail.
One of the suspects, Santamaria was also booked for his two outstanding warrants.
Santamaria was booked for the following charges –
· Possession of a controlled substance
· Addict in possession of a firearm
· Driving with a suspended license
· DUI/alcohol
· Unregistered vehicle
· Failure to provide evidence of financial responsibility
Alvarado-Samayo and Jimenez-Cuervo were each booked for transportation of a controlled
substance. In addition, Alvardo-Samayo was booked for possession of a controlled substance
for sale.
