LIVERMORE — Two visitors from Stanislaus County were arrested on suspicion of stealing
more than $2,000 worth of retail merchandise in Livermore.
The suspects are Brandon Arellano-Mejorada and Maria Medina-Ramos, both 23-year-old residents of Ceres.
Livermore police received a report of shoplifting in-progress on August 21 at the Shops of
Livermore shopping center. Officers responded at 3:30 p.m. to the Ross Dress for Less store,
3070 West Jack London Boulevard.
Officers detained Arellano-Mejorada as he exited the Ross store carrying merchandise
without paying. Medina-Ramos was detained a short time later inside the store. She was
found hiding behind some clothing racks.
Police proceeded to check their vehicle. “Officers saw additional stolen property in plain view
inside the suspects’ vehicle,” Livermore police said in a prepared statement. “Investigators
determined the pair had also stolen items earlier that day from the Ross store on Las Positas
Road.”
Arellano-Mejorada and Maria Medina-Ramos were arrested and taken to Alameda County
Santa Rita Jail.
They were both booked on suspicion of receiving or concealing stolen
merchandise, and shoplifting. In addition, Arellano-Mejorada was also booked on suspicion of
grand theft.
Evidently, a deal was worked out. Misdemeanor charges were filed the same day against
Arellano-Mejorada and Maria Medina-Ramos, but only for petty theft.
All the stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to Ross for restocking.
