FRESNO, CA — Fresno police have reportedly arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man in July.
Just before 7 p.m. on Monday, July 21, officers from the Northwest Policing District responded to reports of a shooting near North State Street and West Acacia Avenue, police said in a press release.
Officers reportedly found an individual at the scene who was not responsive. Despite life-saving efforts by officers, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have identified him as Kuvar Kumar, 33.
Detectives reportedly determined that Kumar was shot as he arrived home and believe the killing stemmed from an interpersonal conflict. The suspects are believed to be people Kumar knew personally.
The suspects, identified 31-year-old Krushan Kumar and 31-year-old Vishal Vishal, are alleged to have fled Fresno shortly after the shooting, police said.
On Thursday, Aug. 14, coordinated search warrants were carried out in Bakersfield and Victorville. The operation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including SWAT, the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division.
During the operation, Kumar and Vishal were located and arrested. Firearms were also recovered.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP or Fresno PD Homicide Detective J. Baroni at 559-621-2516 or Detective M. Yee at 559-621-2407.
