Deputies Reportedly Arrest Nude Burglary Suspect After Chasing Him into Cornfield

HANFORD, CA  –– “On Monday August 4, 2025, Kings County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 13100 block of Grangeville Blvd. Prior to the deputies arriving, the victim reported the suspect who was naked and had run from the residence into a nearby corn field which was freshly irrigated. The victim further reported that the suspect was armed with a screwdriver and had threatened the victim with the screwdriver. The suspect was later identified as 47-year-old Carl Hofmann.

Once the deputies arrived, they immediately established a perimeter around the corn field and requested assistance from the KCSO Air Unit and K-9 Unit. Air 2 arrived overhead and located Carl who was still hiding in the corn field. Numerous announcements were made asking Carl to surrender and come out of the corn field. Carl refused and Deputies along with K-9 Blue made entry into the corn field to arrest Carl. Carl had covered himself in mud to hide and with the assistance of K-9 Blue, he was arrested.

Carl was booked into Kings County Jail on the charges of felony vandalism, burglary, petty theft, attempted first degree burglary, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $150,000. Carl later bailed out of custody.”
