Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Drug Influence and Registration Violation in San Benito County
RIDGEMARK, CA — A man high on drugs was creeping around a San Benito County neighborhood in the middle of the night and was ultimately arrested.
Last night around 2:00 a.m., Deputy Baugher was proactively patrolling in the area of the Ridgemark community when he saw a man wandering aimlessly along Ridgemark Drive.
Deputy Baugher got out of the car to speak with the unknown man and quickly noticed inconsistencies in this man’s story about why he was there. The deputy also saw clear signs of the man being under the influence of an illegal drug (presumably a stimulant).
When the deputy was able to confirm this man’s identity, it revealed he was a registered sex offender who was out of compliance with his registration requirements. Not someone we want walking around any neighborhood late at night and high on drugs.
The man was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for failing to comply with sex offender registration laws.
We are grateful for Deputy Baugher’s astute proactivity and dedication to keeping this community safe no matter what time it is.
