Alturas Police Arrest Felon After Seizing 12 Firearms, Ammunition, and Drugs
ALTURAS, CA — “On August 3, 2025, the Alturas Police Department received information indicating that a local convicted felon was unlawfully in possession of stolen firearms. Following a thorough investigation, a search warrant was authored and signed by the Honorable Judge Randall Harr.
On August 4, 2025, officers from the Alturas Police Department executed the search warrant at a residence located in the 600 block of Josephine Street in Alturas, California. During the search, officers located twelve (12) firearms, ammunition, suspected methamphetamine, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Gene Frankenfield, 58, of Alturas, was arrested and transported to the Modoc County Jail. He was booked on the following charges:
- 29800(a)(1) PC – Felon in possession of a firearm
- 30305(a)(1) PC-Felon in possession of ammunition 496(a) PC-Possession of stolen property
- 11377(a) H&S – Possession of a controlled substance
- 11364(a) H&S – Possession of drug paraphernalia
