Plumas County Inmate Apprehended After Fleeing Courthouse

QUINCY, CA  — A Plumas County Jail inmate, 60 year old Robert Wahlberg, was apprehended shortly after escaping custody on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 PM as Wahlberg was being prepared for transport from the Plumas County Courthouse to the Plumas County Correctional Facility.

Wahlberg, a resident of Beckwourth, CA, has a history of both drug and vehicle related arrests. During Tuesday’s incident, Wahlberg fled from the rear of the courthouse, running west in the direction of Dame Shirley Plaza. A correctional officer initiated a foot pursuit. An off-duty Sheriff’s Court Security Officer, who was in the vicinity for a separate matter, observed the situation and intervened. The officer’s involvement led to Wahlberg’s swift apprehension without further incident.

Following his recapture, Wahlberg is facing an additional charge of escape from custody. The case is set to be referred to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Authorities commended the off-duty officer for their role in the resolution of the incident.
