Wrestling Coach Arrested for Sexual Assault

By F. Scott Faulkner
July 16, 2025 – Ventura County, Ca.

In March 2025, a woman came forward to report to law enforcement authorities that she had
been sexually assaulted by her former wrestling coach.

At the time, she attended Camarillo High School during the academic years 2014 to 2017, when she was still a juvenile.

The ensuing investigation by Ventura County Sheriff Department detectives
developed significant evidence relating to the activities of 72-year-old Colorado resident Ronald
Wilson.

Wilson  had served as Camarillo High’s wrestling coach during the period indicated by the
victim.

That evidence led to Wilson’s arrest two months later, in May 2025.

After news of the arrest became public, two additional victims came forward, prompting
prosecutors to expand the case.

On July 14, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed a new complaint against Wilson, adding seven more felony charges tied to the sexual
assault of these previously unreported victims.

One woman alleged she was assaulted by Wilson in 1990 while she was a student at Oxnard
High School.

The second victim claimed Wilson assaulted her during the 2015–2016 school year
at Camarillo High School.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Stuart Gardner of the Sexual Assault Unit is leading the
prosecution.

Wilson was arrested on charges of lewd act upon a child, sexual penetration by force, sodomy and oral copulation by force.

Wilson remains in custody with bail on the new case set at $390,000.
