Red Bluff Police Arrest Suspect in Domestic Violence and Kidnapping Case

RED BLUFF, CA  — Officers with the Red Bluff Police Department responded to a report of a kidnapping on the 1400 block of Second Street on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at approximately 9:02 PM.

Upon arrival, officers initiated an investigation and contacted witnesses who had observed the incident. Law enforcement also located the victim, who confirmed that her boyfriend, 39 year old Mario Garcia Jr. of Corning, had assaulted her. The victim stated that when she attempted to leave the location in her vehicle, Garcia removed her from the driver’s seat and forced her into the trunk. Garcia then drove the vehicle with the victim in the trunk until she convinced him to drive her home. Upon reaching the residence, the victim fled to a neighbor’s home, and Garcia entered the victim’s residence.

Red Bluff Police Department officers conducted a search of the residence and surrounding yards but did not immediately locate Garcia. Officers C. Ortega and C. McClure continued the investigation while additional RBPD officers maintained surveillance of the area. Approximately one hour later, Officers Ortega and McClure located Garcia returning to the residence.

Upon being informed he was under arrest, Garcia fled on foot, jumping over multiple fences. Officers Ortega and McClure pursued him on foot. During his attempt to evade arrest, Garcia sustained a broken left ankle while jumping a fence. Officers then took him into custody and summoned an ambulance for medical treatment. Garcia was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for his injury.

Once medically cleared for incarceration, Garcia will be booked into the Tehama County Jail. He faces felony charges including domestic violence, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest.

The victim was informed of Garcia’s arrest and was referred to Empower Tehama for domestic violence survivor assistance and support services.
