Man Arrested for Allegedly Brandishing Ghost Gun at Other Driver in Oroville

OROVILLE, CA —  ” On July 8, 2025, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatch center received a report from a motorist alleging another driver had brandished what appeared to be a black pistol during a roadway incident. The victim initially reported the incident occurred on State Route (SR) 70 near Grand Avenue. Further investigation revealed the brandishing occurred on SR-162 near 5th Avenue.

CHP personnel from the CHP – Oroville Office acted swiftly, using the description of the suspect, vehicle, and location provided by dispatch. The suspect vehicle was located a short time later on Garden Drive, just east of SR-70.

Officers contacted the driver, who matched the description provided by the victim. During the encounter, officers observed a firearm holster in the vehicle’s door panel. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded 9mm handgun concealed in the center console. Further inspection determined the firearm was an unregistered and unserialized Glock-style clone—commonly referred to as a ‘ghost gun.’

The driver admitted to brandishing the firearm during an altercation with another motorist in Oroville. He was taken into custody without incident and booked on multiple charges, including brandishing a firearm and several weapons violations.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal firearms and irresponsible gun behavior. The CHP urges the public to report any threats or violent behavior on the road. Road rage and firearm brandishing not only endanger those directly involved but also the greater community.

Gun violence continues to be a serious public safety concern throughout California and across the nation. CHP is committed to proactive enforcement and community partnerships to prevent senseless acts of violence and ensure the safety of our roadways.

If you witness dangerous driving or suspect criminal activity, please call 9-1-1.”
