SAN LEANDRO, CA — Andre T. Williams, a 49-year-old San Leandro resident, has been arrested
and charged for a fatal shooting.
The victim who was walking his dog died as a result of a single gunshot wound.
The shooting happened last month near Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street in San Leandro.
Ryan Christie, 47, was found unresponsive on the morning of June 14, laying on the ground.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The victim was still holding his dog’s leash.
Investigators believe that Christie was fatally shot the previous night at approximately 11 p.m.
The victim was shot in his back. His loyal dog at his side was not injured.
Following an extensive investigation Williams was identified as the murder suspect. Williams
was apprehended on a warrant in Tracy on July 7 at 1:10 p.m. He was booked into Alameda
County Santa Rita Jail at 8:43 p.m., where he remains behind bars.
Multiple charges have been filed against Williams. His charges include murder, intentional
discharge of a firearm, and other weapons-related charges. In addition, Williams is charged
with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a prohibited
person.
Williams has prior felony convictions for assault and malicious mischief in 2004. He also has a
felony conviction for attempting to elude a police vehicle in 1997. More recently he was
arrested for DUI/alcohol in May. He was also arrested for a domestic violence incident in
August 2014.
