Repeat DUI Offender Arrested in Grover Beach After Nearly Causing Collision

GROVER BEACH, CA — “Around 9:00 PM on June 23rd, a Grover Beach Police Officer was traveling southbound on N. Oak Park Blvd. As the officer approached the intersection of Brighton Avenue, a vehicle suddenly entered the intersection, forcing the officer to brake hard to avoid a collision.
A traffic stop was initiated, and through further investigation, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Alarmingly, this same individual had been arrested by one of our officers for DUI just one week earlier.
Alex Echeverriahuchin, 37, of Grover Beach was arrested on the following charges and was booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail:
23152(a) VC – Driving under the influence of alcohol
23152(B) VC – Blood alcohol of 0.08 or higher
Driving under the influence is dangerous and puts lives at risk. We’re thankful no one was hurt and commend our officers for their continued efforts to keep our roads safe.”
