Bay Area Teacher’s Aide Arrested – 600 Images of Child Pornography Seized

DISCOVERY BAY, CA— Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a suspect earlier this
month and seized more than 600 images of child pornography.

Dominic J. Vannucci, 25, of Discovery Bay, remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $1.2 million bond.

The Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated Vannucci after
receiving information concerning sexual abuse of children.

The suspect was identified as a teacher’s aide at Excelsior Middle School in Byron.

A search warrant was executed at residence on the 2200 block Breaker Court residence in Discovery
Bay.

A prepared statement from the sheriff’s office said. “Electronic devices containing child
pornography, along with other items were seized.” Vannucci was placed under arrest the same day on
June 4.

Two felony charges have been filed against Vannucci for –
* Possession of over 600 images of child or youth pornography
* Possession/control of matter depicting sex conduct of a person under 18 years old

Vannucci is also charged with 16 separate misdemeanor counts of child molesting. Sheriff’s office
detectives notified school officials who are cooperating in an ongoing investigation.

Participants in the investigatory task force include Brentwood, Concord, Moraga, Oakley, Pleasant Hill
and Walnut Creek police. The sheriff’s office and other law enforcement agencies also participate the
special task force.
