FAIRFIELD, CA — Police are investigating the death of a man found unresponsive following a reported physical battery earlier this month.
According to a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, officers responded on the night of Wednesday, June 18, to a call reporting an assault on the 300 block of East Tabor Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly located a man on the ground, whom they later identified as Juan Carlos Robles-Perez, 23, of Fairfield.
Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, and Robles-Perez was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He was pronounced deceased by medical staff, police said.
Detectives have taken over the investigation, which is reportedly being treated as a potential homicide.
Authorities believe the victim was likely known to the perpetrator, but have not released any additional information as the investigation is ongoing.
Police said there is no known threat to the public at this time.
