DUI warrant leads to arrest on gun charges

Benicia – Michael Anthony Horne was arrested Tuesday on three felony firearms charges, as well as possession of a high capacity magazine and for a DUI warrant out of Contra Costa County, both misdemeanors.

Michael Anthony Horne was arrested at a home on Baker Street in Benicia, though he is listed as a transient.

It was the latter, a No Bail DUI warrant, which ultimately led Benicia Police to a residence in the 200 block of Baker Street in search of Horne. It was after dark, and while two officers were at the front door with the resident, Horne took off out a back door. More Benicia officers were stationed in the back yard, however, making the suspect’s escape a brief one.

On seeing the officers, Horne lied down on the ground and surrendered. He was taken into custody and told officers he was in possession of a firearm, which they located in his waistband. The firearm turned out to be a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a loaded 30-round high capacity magazine. It also had a round in the chamber.

Horne, 33, is listed as having no permanent address. He was booked into Solano County Jail, and has several previous convictions for being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm.
