Two Barstow Residents Charged in Alleged Jail Drug Smuggling Operation

ADELANTO, CA  — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two individuals in connection with a suspected narcotics smuggling operation involving an inmate at the High Desert Detention Center (HDDC). The investigation began in early May 2025 after authorities received information indicating that an inmate, Brandon King, may have been coordinating with an outside accomplice to bring drugs into the facility.

Based on investigative findings, both Juarez and King are facing felony charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and bringing drugs into a jail under California Penal Code sections 182(a)(1) and 4573.5.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department emphasized the importance of preventing the introduction of contraband into correctional facilities. Officials noted that these enforcement efforts are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of both inmates and staff, as well as reducing drug-related activity and potential overdoses within detention environments.
