A month-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking came to a head on May 22 .

Narcotics detectives attached to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s Combined Agency
Team raided two locations in the City of Oxnard, seized large quantities of fentanyl and
methamphetamine and arresting a convicted felon who now faces multiple charges.

According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Odilon Malagon, Juan Lopez, 44, of Oxnard, was taken into
custody following “coordinated search warrant operations” at Lopez’s residence.

Detectives with the Ventura County Combined Agency Team (VCAT), alongside Camarillo and West County
Special Enforcement Units, uncovered a “significant drug trafficking operation” supplying
narcotics throughout Ventura County.

Inside the locations, investigators found approximately three pounds of methamphetamine, 850
grams of fentanyl, two firearms, ammunition and a stash of cash believed to be drug proceeds.

Detectives also recovered additional evidence of narcotics sales, authorities said.
Lopez, a previously convicted felon, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or
ammunition.

He was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail on several felony charges,
including possession of controlled substances for sale, possession of drugs with a firearm, and
being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Lopez remains in custody with bail set at $250,000.
