Suspected Child Predator Arrested in El Dorado County
GARDEN VALLEY, CA — “A Garden Valley man had another run-in with the law, this time for possession of child sexual abuse material.
On May 13, detectives with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU) assisted Patrol Deputies in arresting 32-year-old Michael D’Andrea.
Deputies had initially responded to a welfare check at a residence in Lotus. Ca where they contacted D’Andrea.
While on scene deputies learned that D’Andrea was a registered violent sex offender resulting from crimes in another state and on active felony probation out of Placer County. D’Andrea would not provide deputies access to his cell phone which was a violation of his probation terms.
Deputies provided the phone to the HTCU Detectives who were able to gain access to the device and uncover digital evidence of offensive images and videos of juveniles.
Based on the investigation, D’Andrea was arrested and subsequently booked into the El Dorado County Jail on charges of possession of child pornography and is currently being held on $400,000 bail.
D’Andrea has previous arrests for failure to register as a sex offender, threats of violence, exhibit a weapon and false imprisonment.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting children in our community and beyond. We thank the citizens of El Dorado County for remaining diligent by reporting concerns to the Sheriff’s Office, and our dedicated investigators for their hard work and diligence in these investigations.
