Juvenile Suspect, 16, Arrested for Alleged Attempted Murder of Another Teen in Reedley
REEDLEY, CA — “On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Reedley Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of East Aspen Avenue as part of an ongoing investigation into a violent assault on a teenager.
The assault occurred on the afternoon of Friday, May 2, 2025, along a pedestrian walkway east of Grant School, causing a school lockdown. During the attack, the victim was assaulted by at least two individuals using both a firearm and a knife. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries because of the assault.
Fortunately, the victim in this case has been released from the hospital and is continuing to recover. We acknowledge and appreciate the quick actions taken by bystanders that day, which played a critical role in ensuring the victim received timely medical attention.
This morning’s search warrant resulted in the recovery of multiple items that investigators believe will have evidentiary value to the case, including an unregistered handgun.
As a result of the investigation:
A 16-year-old male from Reedley was arrested for attempted murder (PC 664/187) in connection with the assault and transported to Fresno County Juvenile Hall. Detectives are continuing to work to identify and arrest a second suspect in this case.
Detectives believe the assault is not a random crime, but a crime of opportunity connected to a feud between members of two rival criminal street gangs.
