BERKELEY, CA — An armed robbery suspect was arrested for recent robberies of cannabis
delivery drivers.
Larue D. Henderson, 26, of Berkeley, remains in custody in lieu of $420,000
bond at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail.
Berkeley police arrested Henderson on May 13 at 5:03 p.m. Henderson was transported and
booked into the county lockup on May 14 at 12:14 a.m. Charges filed subsequently against
Henderson include –
* Use of a firearm
* Carjacking
* Receiving stolen property
* Possession of a large quantity of contraband
* Resisting/obstructing an officers
Henderson is a suspect in two armed robberies. He allegedly used a gun to threaten delivery
drivers and steal their delivery vehicles.
The carjacked vehicles contained cannabis products
with a nearly $10,000 retail value. Police later found both stolen vehicles abandoned a short
distance away from the crime scenes.
The first robbery occurred in the Virginia Gardens neighborhood on April 11 at 3 a.m.
Henderson allegedly stole the driver’s cell phone, before driving away with the delivery
vehicle with cannabis products inside.
The second robbery happened in South Berkeley on April 22, shortly before 8 p.m. Again,
Henderson allegedly threatened the driver with a gun, before stealing the delivery vehicle
filled with cannabis.
Investigators obtained evidence from surveillance cameras and cell phone records to identify
Henderson as the suspect. He was taken into custody in the city of Alameda.
