Sonoma County Authorities Arrest Man for Alleged Battery, Public Intoxication

PETALUMCA,  CA — “On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately 3:42 PM, a patrol officer noticed a male subject in the area of Caulfield Lane at Hopper Street causing a disturbance. The subject, (later identified as Francisco Barrera, 33) was observed exhibiting erratic behavior, including staggering in the street and aggressively punching the air. Officers noted visible injuries to his knuckles, consistent with physical altercations.

As officers attempted to make contact, Barrera refused to comply with commands and ran toward a marked patrol vehicle as an officer was attempting to exit. Barrera struck the hood of the vehicle with his fists and began banging on the passenger door while the vehicle was in reverse. Officers were ultimately able to detain Barrera, who was arrested and transported to County Jail on the following charges:

148(a)(1) PC – Resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer
647(f) PC – Public intoxication
1203.2(a) PC – Violation of probation

Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that Mr. Barrera had assaulted a victim before officers arrived. The victim received minor injuries and is recovering. As a result of the assault, Barrera received additional charges for:

242 PC – Battery
1203.2(a) PC – Additional probation violation”
