CULVER CITY, CA — Police have arrested an individual for allegedly following and assaulting a woman earlier this week.

According to a press release by the Culver City Police Department, officers responded on the evening of Tuesday, May 14, to the 4100 block of Madison Avenue after receiving a report of a woman bleeding and screaming for help.

Officers arrived on scene and located the victim visibly injured and sitting on the ground holding the back of her head. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were ultimately determined not to be life-threatening, police said.

The victim told officers that she had been walking in the neighborhood when an unknown male started following her and, unprovoked, attacked her from behind, grabbed her by the head, pulled her to the ground, and repeatedly punched her in the head.

Officers at the scene canvassed the area and reportedly located a man matching the suspect’s description near the 4100 block of La Salle Avenue.

Upon positive identification as the suspect, the individual was arrested on suspicion of assault likely to produce great bodily injury, police said.
