CHP Seeks Whereabouts of Two Individuals in Connection with Discovery of Weapon, Stolen Car

ANTELOPE VALLEY, CA — “On March 4, 2025, at approximately 2:43 p.m., a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Antelope Valley Officer was dispatched to a report of an abandoned vehicle blocking the roadway near 175th Street East and Avenue N-8. The vehicle appeared to have been involved in a traffic crash. A records check conducted by CHP Dispatch later determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. As the Officer arrived on scene, he observed a white adult male walking away from the rear of the abandoned vehicle and entering the passenger side of a black Ford Explorer parked nearby. A second white adult male was seated in the driver’s seat of the Explorer.
While speaking with the driver, the Officer observed a black semi-automatic rifle positioned near the driver’s right leg and the center console. As the Officer issued commands to the occupants, the driver of the vehicle suddenly accelerated away from the scene.
The vehicle was later found disabled on a desert road, where both occupants had fled on foot. During their escape, the passenger dropped the firearm, which was later determined to be an unregistered .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle. CHP units, along with aerial support, conducted an extensive search of the area, but the suspects were not located.
As a precaution, nearby schools were placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff. Law enforcement personnel remained on scene until it was determined that there was no ongoing threat to the community.
