A Los Angeles County man has been charged in connection with a shooting, allegedly motivated by road rage, that killed a 4-year-old boy.

Gor Adamyan

In a press release, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office identified 29-year-old Byron Burkhart as the suspect in question. Authorities allege that, on the night of Friday, December 15, Burkhart had been driving with his girlfriend when he allegedly cut off another vehicle, occupied by the victim and his parents, on the 44600 block of Sierra Highway in Lancaster. Burkhart allegedly drove aggressively and displayed other signs of road rage.

At one point, Burkhart allegedly pulled up alongside the victims’ vehicle and fired eight shots into the vehicle, one of which struck 4-year-old Gor Adamyan. Gor later died of his injury at a nearby hospital. Neither parent was struck by gunfire.

The victims’ vehicle camera recoded Burkhart’s license plate during the incident, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Burkhart was arrested and is now charged with murder, attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon. His bail has been set at $5,075,000. His arraignment has been scheduled for January 22, 2024.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to help raise financial support for Gor’s family.
