Gang Suppression Detail Arrests 18-Year-Old with Fully-Loaded Stolen Firearms

POMONA – Last night at 5 PM, Pomona PD’s Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) partnered up with the San Gabriel Valley Crime Impact Task Force for a gang sweep of the 700 block of W. Ninth Street.
A surprise was in store during a vehicle stop in the south alley when officers made contact with Juan Jesus Torres (18) of Pomona.
MCTF Corporal J. Hernandez announced, “While Officers were talking to Suspect Jesus Torres they were able to see a gun in plain view next to his feet on the floorboard of the vehicle. Officers removed the suspect from the vehicle and took him into custody without incident.”
Once the loaded firearm (later found stolen) was recovered from the floorboard of the vehicle, with the suspect found to be on active probation with search conditions, a probation compliance check at the suspect’s residence revealed a second stolen firearm in his bedroom.
MCTF’s Corporal Hernandez added, “Suspect Jesus Torres is a known Pomona gang member. The suspect was ultimately booked at the Pomona city jail for 186.22(b)(1) PC- Gang enhancement, 25850 (c)(2) PC- Possession of loaded stolen firearm, and 25850(c)(3) PC- Gang member in possession of firearm.”
