FRESNO, CA  — Officers with the Fresno Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting late last month that left one dead and another two injured.

According to a press release by the Fresno Police Department, officers responded on the afternoon of Saturday, April 19, to Los Viejones Barbershop on North Van Ness Avenue after the city’s ShotSpotter system reported gunfire in the area.

Officers arrived and determined a shooting had taken place both inside and outside the barbershop. They located two victims at the scene and another a short distance away, police said.

Jampier Quintero

One of the victims, identified as 44-year-old Jampier Quintero, was taken to an area medical center for emergency treatment, but was ultimately pronounced deceased the next day.

The two other victims, identified only as a 20-year-old and 17-year-old male, respectively, were treated for gunshot wounds and later released, police said.

Detectives identified the primary suspect in the shooting as Kobe Chantharangsy, 18. Upon further investigation, detectives also linked Chantharangsy to a second shooting on Friday, April 18, near Recreation and Gettysburg avenues.

On Saturday, April 26, Chantharangsy was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. A second individual, identified as Adrian Echeverria, has reportedly also been arrested as an accessory to the crime.
